[Sponsored Post] Earth & Clay - creating life size sculptures of hands and feet

Hello people!!! Finally... after a long hiatus, I'm finally back clearing the thick layer of dust on my blog!! *WAVE~*

AND~~~~

I'm gonna share with you guys a very fun and interesting workshop that I've attended with other bloggers last Wednesday!

A few bloggers and I attended a hand casting workshop by Earth & Clay. Its my very first time making hand sculptures, SO I'm mad excited!!!

A little intro...

Earth and Clay offers a unique experience of life clay casting. We break the mould of producing kitschy mementos by introducing clay casting to create life-sized clay sculptures of whole hands and feet. Participate directly in the process, get creative and choose from an array of colours and frames to customize your very own clay sculpture. The final product encapsulates every form, intricate lines and details on the hands and feet and even the distinct contours of the nails.

Interesting right??!?!
I feel so lucky to be one of the bloggers to attend this workshop because I can experience the WHOLE process all done and customized by me!!! Whooohooo...

Aright, let me share with you more about the process in getting the sculptures done!

First you will need the above items ready!
Alginate is for the mold and Plaster De Paris (plaster) is for the sculpturing...

And....Follow the instructions below:-

FIRST: Pour 400g of water into the mixing bowl...

SECOND: Pour Alginate into the mixing bowl with water and start mixing it for approximately 2 mins.

When the Alginate touches the water, it will turn DARK PINK as it is colour-changing... Therefore, it look super yummy to me.. Like some sort of strawberry/ grape flavour cupcakes~ HA....

I look as if I'm so gonna taste it! Xp

THIRD: Once it changes it's colour to a LIGHT PINK colour, you should taste if the batter is ready pour it into the container and start tapping on the container while pouring. This is to "tap" away bubbles in the mixture.

FOURTH: Prep your hand with some water, so that the mold will not be "stuck" on your hand!

FIFTH: Slowly put your hand into the container, move your hand little and ensure that it is not touching either sides and base of the container. The mixture will then turn WHITE when it is harden!

* It's VERY COOLING~~~ Wooooo....*

Tadah..... My fat hand stuck in the harden mold.... The feeling in it when it's harden is pretty JELLI-SH ?!?! SLIMY ?!!?

It takes LESS THAN 5 MINS TO HARDEN!!! Try not to move or wiggle your fingers, so that the mould will not be destroyed~

NOTE: Try to have shorter nails when molding... as it is hard to mold long nails and it is too weak even if its formed... Want to have nice sculpture of your hand or feet? Than listen to my advise~ Tsk Tsk...

SIXTH: Slowly move your wrist left, right, front and back to get the mold off your skin and let the air to enter so you can slowly remove your hand from the mold.

This is MY MOLD !!! very disgusting looking... like some mini rat holes... LOL *gross ttm* BUT there are hidden treasures in it to be revealed soon~

SEVENTH: Mix the plaster and pour it into the mold! Tap again while pouring so that the air bubbles could escape~ even the mold is filled, still continue tapping for about 2 mins and then.....

Give it a "massage"..... LOL... this is to also let the air bubbles come out, especially in the fingers area...

LEAVE IT TO DRY TIME!!! while we enjoy our food at the MacDonald for about 30 - 45mins~

HARDEN!!!!
So now just remove the mold away by cutting and tearing it SLOWLY!!! you wouldn't want to destroy your sculpture in this very last part!!!

It feels very slightly warm due to its chemical reaction.. BUT ITS NORMAL!!

FINALLY REVEAL THE HAND!!! Look at the fine lines of my palm~ Its all shown!! COOL HOR!!! Well I have goosebumps when I stared hard at my sculpture because its simply amazingly real with all the details!!

LASTLY , clean up all the remaining residue and apply the colours!! *the friendly stuff from Earth & Clay will also do some trimmings if needed*

TADAH~ COMPLETED with the plate and stand that is provided only for us... Hehehe...

ME & my master piece~ *give me a ^5*

With the other bloggers'................... sculptures~ LOL! can you spot mine?? HAHAHA....

The entire process is so FUN!!! I enjoyed making my own hand sculpture~ and wouldn't it be nice if you have your own palm imprinted as a souvenir? It's so unique, the one and only piece leh~

And if you like, you can do it with your family and love ones too!

Cute hor??!?! They also have frames like the above sold separately... many designs to choose from!!

How about making yourself a uniquely name card holder?

GREAT IDEA HOR??!?! the wooden stand is also available from Earth & Clay, sold separately....

Look at their other samples they have in the stores~ so cute right??!?! especially those baby ones.... CUTE!!!!

and whats more, there is no age limit for this. The three-dimensional replica helps to cast one’s mind back to the momentous events in their lifetime when the sculpture was made:

-Birthdays

-Baby Showers

-Wedding

-Anniversaries

-Events

PLUS, they have more than 10 colours and 30 frames to choose from!!! FULLY CUSTOMISED!!! unless you tell me there is another person who has the same hand /feet as you... =____=

If not why not try this hands-on experience and make a sculpture?!?!?!  Especially they are having 20% OFF during the month of July, for their official opening!!
